The Gospel is not just the gracious work of God that begins our spiritual life. The Gospel is the salvation of God that sustains and grows our spiritual lives throughout our earthly days and for all eternity. In fact, this Sunday we will rejoice once again that the Gospel is more than merely the good news of the forgiveness of our sins and a right relationship with God. Jesus Christ our Lord is the Gospel, and He alone is the all-satisfying gift our hearts have been longing for!

The truth is, we are both beautiful and broken and in desperate need of the Gospel! May the saving grace of God through faith in Christ flow like new wine in and through you in our groups this week as we consider the Doctrine of Humankind.

Where there is a father, there is a child. In this case, a Son! This Sunday we will consider “God the Son” from John 17:1-8 in our continuing series Doctrine Matters. The message will give us the opportunity to explore and appreciate more deeply together the eternality, incarnation, sacrifice, and exaltation of God the Son, our glorious Savior! May we grow more in love with Jesus and more consecrated to his will for our lives this week!

What comes into your mind when you hear the word “father?” Are they good, joyful thoughts, or dark memories of fear and foreboding? Whatever it may be, the way we have experienced and think about our earthly fathers has a large affect on how we think about and relate to God, our heavenly Father. This Sunday we continue our series, “Doctrine Matters”, as we seek to understand and love more fully the first person of the godhead, God the Father, from Ephesians 1:3-14. May the Lord heal our hearts and souls as we receive afresh the amazing love and grace of our Father God!

The Apostle Paul said that if Christ had not been raised then our preaching and our faith are in vain. But thanks be to God that Christ is raised, and both preaching and Christian faith have eternal value! This Easter Sunday we will celebrate 6 huge blessings we possess as we consider “The Mercy of God in the Resurrection of Jesus” from 1Peter 1:3-9. Are you ready then? “He is risen! He is risen indeed!”

Missions Conference Week has finally arrived! This Sunday Pastor Tom Ferrell of Atascadero Bible Church will be sharing his message “The Power of Partnership” from Philippians 1:1-6. Tom will help us see what our redeeming God is doing in the world today and challenge us to partner with Him and other world Christians in reaching all the “peoples” of the earth with the glorious Gospel. We have provided questions for you in the worship folder, but use these to stimulate discussions only if there is still time after your missionary has shared with your group.

Doctrine matters? You bet it does! It determines what we think about God...and what we think, ultimately, determines our eternal destiny. I hope you have been enjoying our new and exciting series as we have been exploring the doctrinal content of our new Declaration of Faith together. This Sunday we’ll consider together the comforting reality of the Providence of our Triune God. May our hearts burn afresh with love for our God who is ever working on our behalf for our eternal good! Praise be to His glorious Name!
