The Bible is God's BIG Story of grace climaxing in the person and work of Jesus Christ. Every book in the Bible is one small part of this larger story and is pointing us in some way to Jesus. Each message in our Route 66 series looks at one of the 66 books of the Bible. In this part of our series, we look at the 17 books of the prophets.

The book of Malachi is the last book of the Old Testament and the last Word of God before the coming of Jesus 400 years later. Malachi assumes, summarizes and applies the message of the Old Testament AND it contains yet another promise of the coming of Jesus.

The book of Zechariah is an encouragement to the post-exilic generation of God's people to rebuild the Lord's Temple and live their lives centered around Him. Through apocalyptic visions, sermons and oracles Zechariah reminds us that the Lord is faithful to His promises and His work is not yet done.

The short book of Haggai is a call to God's people to commit themselves to God's work. That call still rings out from God's Word. God's work at that time was the rebuilding of the temple. God's work today is the building of His spiritual temple through the making of disciples.

Every time we pick up the Bible we are faced with a question: "Do I believe this?" Picking up the book of Zephaniah pushes that question upon us once more. Do we really believe we are accountable to God? Do we really believe God will judge the earth? Do we really believe that salvation is possible for those who trust him?

Jeff Jennings | Nahum 1:1-15 | 4/26/2015
The book of Nahum is a courageous prophecy of destruction against the Assyrian capital of Nineveh at the height of her power. The prophet declares refuge and deliverance for God’s people who sit perched atop Jerusalem as the arm of Assyria surrounds them reaching all the way to Egypt. But God will act. God will deliver. God will save!
